Hingham is a town on the South Shore of Massachusetts, with a population of 22,157. First settled in 1633, Hingham is known for its colonial history and proximity to Boston Harbor.
Named after a village in the English county of Norfolk, East Anglia, with the same name, the home place of many of the first colonists, including Abraham Lincoln’s ancestor Samuel Lincoln (1622–90). A statue of President Lincoln is adjacent to downtown Hingham Square.
Hingham is bordered on the east by Cohasset, and Scituate, on the south by Norwell and Rockland, on the west by Weymouth, and on the north by Hingham Bay and Hull.
